This Light Up Haïti! initiative is launched this 22nd day of August, 2021, to commemorate the 230th anniversary of what marked the commencement of the revolution that led Haïti to becoming only the 2nd free republic in the world, behind only the United States of America. As Haïti’s battle for independence led to its freedom from the darkness of social tyranny, may the forthcoming renaissance emblemized by the launching of this Light Up Haïti! initiative free its 6 million plus people without access to electricity from the tyranny of infrastructure darkness.

One Tribe… One Work

WatersMark believes that we are all indeed our brother’s keeper (which of course includes our sisters). Inherently, along with the development opportunity for the entirety of Île à Vache is the stewardship to literally watch over the entirety of our community. (As a side note, Île à Vache currently has no power or sewerage infrastructure and is the historical treasure island of the infamous 17th century pirate turned Lieutenant Governor, Sir Henry Morgan.) This community of some 15,000 strong are in essence 100% unemployed or under-employed by all western standards, living on less than a couple dollars a days. Accordingly, our obligation is to give a voice to the voiceless, hope to the hopeless & opportunity to those who would otherwise be without.  One Tribe… One Work is the sustainable, job creating, life altering, philanthropic banner under which WatersMark carries out this most unusual of opportunities to serve our fellowman. That said, don’t just give, get involved & be part of developing a sustainable community with us all. Make Île à Vache your home away from home.
